Celebrating our 5th anniversary and looking ahead at climate and health action
Dear reader,
At the beginning of March, the European Climate and Health Observatory turned 5 years old and 2026 is set to be a year of action for the initiative. The 10th Partners Meeting in January in Bonn, co-organised by the European Commission (DG SANTE and DG CLIMA) and the European Environment Agency, hosted by WHO Regional Office for Europe, highlighted the Observatory’s growing role in shaping Europe’s climate and health resilience.
The Observatory provides partners with a platform to connect, share expertise on tackling climate and health challenges, and amplify the impact of their work.
Joint initiatives, such as the joint EEA – Eurofound report Overheated and underprepared: Europeans' experience of living with climate change, which was published on February 4th, illustrate how partners can work together to turn data into practical, policy-relevant insights.
In 2026, the Observatory will continue driving evidence into action, strengthening preparedness, and ensuring Europe is ready to respond to climate-related health risks. We will also shortly start preparing a new workplan, which will guide the Observatory’s work until the end of 2028.
